Dr. D. K. Vijaykumar is a renowned Surgical Oncologist, leading the Gynecological Oncology Department at Amrita Hospital, Kochi. With extensive expertise in breast and gynecologic cancers, Dr. Vijaykumar has been instrumental in developing the breast and gynecologic oncology services at Amrita, making it one of the most advanced centers in India. His contributions include the introduction of the sentinel node program in breast cancer and some gynecologic cancers, offering breast conservation surgeries, and facilitating breast reconstruction. Dr. Vijaykumar is highly involved in training and research, having mentored many young surgeons and published more 50  research papers.
