Genetic mutations and specific combinations of genes may increase the risk of ASD. Male children, pre-term babies, and children born to older parents also are at risk of developing this condition. Environmental factors such as drugs, infections, and medications, especially during pregnancy, can increase the risk of autism in your child. There is absolutely no proof that childhood vaccines cause autism. No research could relate vaccines and ASD. Hence, do not hesitate to give your child the necessary immune vaccines on time. Treatment There is no cure for autism, but early diagnosis and treatment would make a significant difference in the lives of those suffering from autism. Treatment includes therapy focusing on behavior and communication. There are also medications to manage hyperactivity and anxiety. Art, music, and other activities have been effective in managing this condition. Remember that this is not a preventable condition.
