Amrita Hospital, Faridabad, hosted an Advanced FESS – Anterior Skull Base Cadaveric Dissection Workshop. The workshop offered intensive hands-on training for surgeons looking to refine their expertise in Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery and skull base procedures.
The workshop was held under the stewardship of Dr. Anandh Balasubramaniam, Head of Neurosurgery, and Dr. Aparna Mahajan, Senior Consultant in ENT. Course direction was provided by Dr. Pradeep Sharma, Senior Consultant in Neurosurgery, with Dr. N. N. Mathur, Head of ENT.
In the full-day programme, participants practised realistic anatomy on soft-embalmed cadavers. The session was further emphasized by ‘3D mixed-reality modules and navigation-assisted dissection’ to boost the surgeon's three-dimensional visualization of structures and to operate with pinpoint accuracy. Training progressed in a structured stepwise approach, from the basics of anatomy through advanced access to the skull base, all under the guidance of expert faculty.
One of the most beneficial aspects of the training was the use of soft-embalmed cadavers. Surgeons could practise delicate operations with almost clinical realism because of the natural tissue texture preserved in these cadavers. The training was extremely useful and boosted participants' confidence, as they were able to complete all procedures exactly as they would in an actual operating room.
For focused skill refinement, six expert surgeons from across the country were assembled to enhance the mentor-mentee focus. The combination of realistic cadaveric tissue, advanced visualization technology, and personalized instruction made the workshop an invaluable and confidence-building experience for the surgeons who participated in the training workshop.
The workshop became a high-quality platform for refining surgical skills in both sinus and skull base procedures. Amrita will continue to build one of the strongest medical communities with enhanced surgical skills.
