
A free diabetic foot care diagnosis and treatment camp was organized at Amrita Kripa Specialty Clinic, Kozhikode, under the Rural Health Programme of Amrita Telemedicine & Digital Health. The initiative was conducted in collaboration with Amrita Hospital, Kochi, Mata Amritanandamayi Math, Kozhikode, Amrita Telemedicine, and the Telemedicine Society of India (Kerala Chapter).
The camp was inaugurated by Brahmachari Shaijan of Mata Amritanandamayi Math, Kozhikode, by lighting the traditional lamp. Dr. Mangalanandan, Head of the Diabetic Foot Care Department at Amrita Hospital, Kochi, led the programme and delivered an awareness session on effective diabetes management, the importance of foot care among diabetic patients, early warning signs of diabetic foot disease, and the need for timely medical intervention. Dr. Sreekumar, Amrita Hospital, spoke on preventive measures, lifestyle modifications, and precautions that individuals with diabetes should adopt to reduce the risk of foot-related complications. More than 100 patients participated in the camp and received expert medical examinations, treatment guidance, and medicines free of cost.
The initiative helped improve access to specialized diabetic foot care services for people in rural communities and contributed to the prevention of serious complications, including diabetic foot ulcers and lower-limb amputations. Dr. Sreeja, Amrita Yuva Dharmadhara volunteers Deepesh, Aju, and Rishi, along with Amrita Telemedicine System Administrator Rajish M.V., were also present at the programme.
