In celebration of Children's Day month, the Department of Pediatric and Preventive Dentistry at Amrita Hospital Kochi took proactive steps to promote dental health among children in Ernakulam district through a series of dental awareness camps. These camps from November 14 to 30 th were organized in collaboration with various Anganwadis, Residence Associations, and Schools, aimed to instill good oral hygiene habits from an early age.

Dr. Balagopal Varma R., Principal and Head of the Department of Pediatric Dentistry, School of Dentistry inaugurated the event, emphasizing the importance of dental health in the overall well-being of children. As part of the awareness initiative, students from Amrita School of Dentistry presented a thought-provoking skit on addressing social stigma related to oral health.

The camps featured a range of activities designed to engage and educate children about the significance of proper dental care. Dental screenings were conducted to identify potential issues early on, and various awareness sessions were organized to impart essential knowledge about maintaining oral hygiene. Children also participated in interactive activities and puzzles, making the learning experience enjoyable and memorable.

Recognizing the crucial role that parents and teachers play in shaping a child's dental habits, awareness sessions were conducted for them also. The department also conducted the camp for patients at Amrita School of Dentistry. The goal of the camp was to create a comprehensive understanding of the importance of good oral health for overall health.
