Amrita Hospital, Kochi hosted the 4th Annual International conference ABIP (Amrita Bronchology and Interventional Pulmonary) 2024 on May 11th and 12th at Hotel Le Meridien Kochi. The event, organized by the Advanced Interventional Pulmonology unit of Amrita Hospital, Kochi, aimed to bring together experts and enthusiasts in the field of interventional pulmonology for knowledge sharing and skill enhancement.

The Bronchoscopy Simulation Centre at Amrita Hospital, Kochi, in collaboration with FujiFilm and ERBE was inaugurated by Dr. Prem Nair, Group Medical Director, along with 12 distinguished international faculties, which included Dr. Kyle Hogart from the USA, Dr. Jamalul Azizi from Malaysia, Dr. Lorenzo Corbetta from Italy, Dr. Anantham Devanand from Singapore, Dr. Calvin NG from Hong Kong, Dr. Mitrofan Elena from Romania, Dr. Ashkan Moslehi from Iran, Dr. Kannan Sivaraman from Malaysia, Dr. Sarabon Tahura from Bangladesh, Dr. Kho Sze Shyang from Malaysia and Dr. Wahju Aniwidyaningsih from Indonesia. According to FujiFilm, it is the third referral centre in India, while for ERBE, it is the second in India and third in Asia

Under the able leadership of Dr. Tinku Joseph, Professor & Head of Interventional Pulmonology Dept. of Pulmonary Medicine, Amrita Hospital, Kochi, the conference featured engaging discussions on a wide array of topics, including complex respiratory disorders, early diagnosis of lung cancer, its screening, and non-surgical treatment options.

On the first day of the conference, attendees were treated to a series of focused training programs and hands-on workshops. These included sessions such as Rigid Bronchoscopy, Electrosurgery & Airway Stenting, Masterclass in Flexible Bronchoscopy, Linear EBUS Masterclass, Radial EBUS, Navigation, Robotic Bronchoscopy & Lung Nodule Ablation Techniques, Thoracoscopy, IPC & USG Chest, Paediatric Interventional Pulmonology, and Lung Transplantation & Tracheal Reconstruction Procedures.

The second day featured didactic lectures and live case presentations, providing attendees with valuable insights and practical knowledge. Postgraduates and fellows had the opportunity to showcase their work through video, oral, and poster presentations. The conference also included an Innovators Hub, where new products were launched, and networking opportunities abounded.

600 delegates from across India, attended the conference representing 22 states, along with participants from 16 foreign countries. The conference was a resounding success, fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange among participants.
