
Amrita Hospital, Faridabad, marked World Breastfeeding Week with a comprehensive and engaging event aimed at promoting the importance of breastfeeding for both mothers and infants. The celebration brought together expecting and nursing mothers, families from Delhi-NCR, faculty and students from the Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham - School of Nursing, as well as healthcare professionals to discuss the critical role of breastfeeding in early child nutrition and maternal well-being.
The event was graced by experts such as Professor Lekha Viswanath, Principal of Amrita College of Nursing, along with senior gynecologists from Amrita Hospital, Faridabad, including Professor Deepti Sharma (Head of Department) and Dr. Mansi Kumar. Renowned neonatologists, Dr. Hemant Sharma and Dr. Praachi Singh, along with faculty members and students from the nursing college, also contributed to the success of the program.
The insightful panel discussion covered essential topics such as antenatal preparation for breastfeeding, the neuroscience of breastfeeding, busting common myths, lactation challenges, strategies for sustaining breastfeeding beyond the first year, ideal latching techniques, and breast care. The session encouraged meaningful conversations about the challenges mothers face and offered practical solutions and emotional support to ensure successful breastfeeding practices.
Distinguished guests, including Dr. Ashutosh Sharma (Medical Superintendent), Sister Maria Lazaro (Nursing Superintendent), and IAP dignitaries, also attended the event, commending the initiative and emphasizing the importance of breastfeeding in ensuring infant health and the overall well-being of mothers.
