
The Department of Pulmonary Medicine under the Amrita Lung Centre, Amrita Hospital, Faridabad, successfully conducted the Central Airway Obstruction Management School Course 2025, bringing together leading pulmonologists, interventional experts, and postgraduate students from across India for an intensive academic and practical training experience.
The one-day program was designed to enhance clinical understanding and procedural expertise in central airway diseases and rigid bronchoscopy, focusing on complex interventions such as airway stenting, electrosurgery, and cryo techniques. More than 80 participants — including postgraduate trainees, fellows, and consultants — took part in the course led by some of India’s foremost experts in interventional pulmonology.
The event was inaugurated by Swami Nijamritananda Puri and Dr. Sanjeev Singh (Medical Director, Amrita Hospital, Faridabad), who emphasized the hospital’s mission to advance skill-based medical education and clinical innovation.
Scientific sessions explored a wide range of contemporary topics, including:
- Central Airway Obstruction: Definition and Overview – Dr. Pradeep Bajad
- Current Guidelines for Benign & Malignant Airway Management – Dr. Rahul Tyagi
- Hot & Cold Therapy in Airway Disease – Dr. Tinku Joseph
- Airway Stents: Which, When, and What’s New – Dr. Harikishan Gonuguntula
The event also featured two engaging debates on “To Stent or Not to Stent in Benign Airway Obstruction” and “Should Rigid Bronchoscopy Be Part of the PG Curriculum in India?,” moderated by renowned national faculty.
In the afternoon, participants attended hands-on training sessions at the Bronchoscopy Suite, which included live demonstrations on rigid scope orientation, stenting techniques, cryotherapy, and APC/electrocautery therapy. The sessions were led by expert faculty including Dr. Zubair Ahmed, Dr. Manu Madan, Dr. Ankit Bhatia, and Dr. Sharad Joshi, allowing participants to practice on advanced simulation models.
The program was coordinated by Dr. Arjun Khanna (Head, Pulmonary Medicine), Dr. Sourabh Pahuja (Head, Interventional Pulmonology), and Dr. Pradeep Bajad (Consultant & In-Charge, Specialty Clinics), who ensured a seamless blend of theory, debate, and practical experience.
Participants praised the course for its structured academic format and comprehensive hands-on learning.
