The Departments of Obstetrics & Gynaecology and Neonatology at Amrita Hospital, Faridabad, successfully organised PERICON 2026, a Continuing Medical Education (CME) programme titled "From Womb to NICU: Bridging Obstetrics and Neonatology for Better Neonatal Outcomes," on 5 July 2026. The academic event brought together leading obstetricians, neonatologists, paediatricians, and resident doctors to discuss evidence-based strategies for improving maternal and neonatal outcomes through multidisciplinary collaboration.
The day-long CME featured a series of expert lectures, panel discussions, and live demonstrations addressing key aspects of perinatal and neonatal care. The sessions focused on translating current evidence into clinical practice and strengthening coordination between obstetric and neonatal teams.
The scientific programme commenced with a session on "Perinatal Outcomes Start in the Antenatal Clinic: Simple Changes with Big Impact," followed by an engaging panel discussion on revisiting common practices in high-risk obstetrics. Interactive debates on the role of soft markers in the era of non-invasive prenatal testing (NIPT) and the use of progesterone in obstetrics encouraged participants to critically evaluate evolving clinical evidence.
Experts also deliberated on the challenges of practising obstetrics in real-world settings, difficult decision-making in fetal medicine, and the importance of seamless collaboration between obstetricians and neonatologists in improving neonatal outcomes. The concluding panel explored evidence-based approaches to the management of complex perinatal complications.
A live demonstration on T-piece neonatal resuscitation provided participants with practical insights into neonatal emergency care and reinforced the importance of simulation-based learning in improving clinical preparedness.
The CME witnessed active participation from healthcare professionals across specialties, fostering meaningful discussions and knowledge exchange. Accredited with Haryana Medical Council (HMC) Credit Points, the programme reaffirmed Amrita Hospital's commitment to continuous medical education and advancing excellence in maternal and neonatal healthcare through interdisciplinary learning and evidence-based practice.
