On the occasion of World Cancer Day 2026, Amrita Hospital, Kochi organised a commemorative programme themed “United by Unique”, reaffirming its commitment to cancer awareness, prevention, and patient-centred care. The programme brought together clinicians, patients, caregivers, supporters, and members of the hospital community.

T. D. Ramakrishnan, Indian novelist and translator, and Asha Devi T. S., renowned theatre artist, graced the occasion as Chief Guests, adding a broader cultural and social perspective to the observance. A key segment of the programme focused on World Cancer Day messages, emphasising early detection, personalised treatment, and the need to address social stigma associated with cancer. Felicitations were extended to senior medical leaders, underscoring the collective effort involved in advancing oncology services at Amrita Hospital.

The programme also featured video messages from financial supporters and national cancer organisations, reflecting the importance of partnerships and community engagement in strengthening cancer care. Nutritional kits were distributed to cancer patients, and financial supporters were honoured for their contributions toward patient care and treatment access. Winners of a patient-centric recipe competition were announced, highlighting the role of nutrition in recovery.

A highlight of the event was the “Ask Your Doctor” panel discussion, where specialists from gynecologic oncology, radiation oncology, medical oncology, breast clinic, hemato-oncology, and head-and-neck oncology interacted with patients and the public, fostering open dialogue and awareness.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks, marking the observance as a reminder that awareness, early action, collaboration, and compassion remain central to the fight against cancer. Through initiatives like these, Amrita Hospital, Kochi continues to strengthen its role as a leader in comprehensive, patient-focused cancer care.
