The Nursing Quality Division and Staff Development Centre of Amrita Hospital conducted Meiosis 2025, a four-day program under Samudyamah cooperating with the representatives of Becton Dickinson India. The program commenced with the lamp lighting by Ms. Sai Bala. M, Nursing Director, Amrita Hospital invoking the blessings of Amma on the 21st January at 09:00 am extending till 04:00 pm on the 24th of January. The core aim of the program was to provide a comprehensive knowledge in the field of sampling and usage of its associated accessories along with exploring innovative ideas, putting new knowledge into practice through hands on demonstrations and effective skill development with the able guidance of experts in the field. 

The program comprised of six exhibition stalls, each opening the door to a world of information focusing on equipping staff with necessary knowledge and skill to forge ahead in their field. The stalls included Pre-Heparinized ABG syringes, Phlebotomy and various sized needles, Vacutainer and blood collection methods, Urine sampling, IV cannulation and associated accessories and Insulin syringe and insulin pen needles.  

“It was my first time attending such an informative event having an opportunity to understand and learn the different aspects of sampling and its usage through the hands on demonstrations making it a new experience encouraging staff like me to work diligently in the nursing field” Manjusha said on inquiring the feedbacks from the attendees. Deepa, a senior staff, said that “the program enabled us to understand the sampling better and brush up our knowledge. The hands on demonstrations were also useful making it easier for us to learn the innovative ways to teach the new staff and make them expert in it.” 

A total of 1400 Registered Nurses, phlebotomists from laboratories and students along with the Nursing Supervisors, Nurse in-charges and Nursing assistants attended the event within the Kochi campus of Amrita Hospital making it a grand success.
