
In anticipation of IBD Day, the Department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at Amrita Hospital, Kochi, organized an impactful initiative aimed at raising awareness about Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) and providing support to individuals affected by it. The event featured a range of informative sessions and supportive services designed to empower patients and enhance their understanding of managing IBD effectively.
The program commenced with an inaugural ceremony, followed by the release of an insightful awareness video presented by Dr. R Bhanu Vikraman Pillai, Pediatric Gastroenterologist. Distinguished experts and medical professionals, including Dr. Shine Sadasivan, Gastroenterologist, Dr. Rajesh G, Gastroenterologist, Dr. Sudheer, Gastrointestinal Surgeon, Dr. Kathleen, Psychiatrist, and Ms. Arya, Clinical Nutritionist & Dietary Specialist, led engaging panel discussions. They addressed concerns related to IBD treatment and management while providing valuable insights.
Key highlights of the event included interactive talks led by renowned specialists, shedding light on the latest advancements in IBD research and therapy. Attendees also had the opportunity to participate in a special exercise session aimed at promoting holistic well-being.
In a proactive measure, complimentary fibroscans, a non-invasive diagnostic procedure crucial for assessing liver health, were offered to patients. Additionally, a vaccination drive was organized, providing free vaccines for HPV, Influenza, and Hepatitis to attendees, further emphasizing the importance of preventive healthcare measures.
