Under the direct initiative of Amma, Mata Amritanandamayi Devi, Amrita Hospitals is deploying a state-of-the-art Telemedicine Medical Unit to serve the millions of pilgrims attending the Maha Kumbh Mela 2025 at Prayagraj.
The mobile medical unit is equipped with advanced diagnostic and treatment facilities, including a fully automatic medical laboratory, ECG, ECHO, ultrasound, X-ray, nebulizer, pulmonary function test, plastering facility, and a minor operation theatre. Additionally, it features a mobile coronary care and ICU unit with ventilators, defibrillators, an emergency labor room, and resuscitation stations to ensure critical care for emergencies.
A 10-bedded inpatient facility and round-the-clock outpatient (OP) services are available at the unit, providing accessible healthcare to all. The initiative also offers super specialty services, free of charge, with a supply of ₹50 lakhs worth of medicines to ensure that no patient is left untreated.
The medical van, equipped with these facilities, departed from Amrita Hospital, Kochi, following a ceremonial pooja led by Swami Amritaswarupananda Puri, Vice Chairman of Mata Amritanandamayi Math. The journey was flagged off by Union Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas, Sri Suresh Gopi, at the Thrissur Shaktan Stand.
A dedicated team of 13 doctors and 60 supporting staff, including nursing and paramedical professionals from Amrita Hospital, Kochi, and Faridabad, will deliver comprehensive medical services. Beyond basic healthcare, specialty services in cardiology, radiology, emergency medicine, respiratory care, orthopedics, general surgery, pediatrics, and obstetrics and gynecology (OBGYN) will be available, ensuring that pilgrims receive the highest level of care.
