Amrita Sparsham, the support group for Liver Transplant Recipients of Amrita Hospital Kochi, and Liver Foundation of Kerala (LiFOK) jointly organized Amrita Sparsham 2.0, a gathering of liver transplant recipients and their families on Saturday at the hospital. Inaugurating the event, Jebi Mather, Member of Parliament from Kerala, introduced a Privilege Card for liver transplant recipients of Amrita Hospital, that offers substantial discounts on healthcare expenses, and launched the Express Clinic, providing rapid medical assistance. In her address, she spoke about the importance of support groups, highlighting resilience and willpower in facing life’s challenges.

Among the dignitaries present were Dr. S. Sudhindran, Chief Transplant Surgeon, Dr. Shine Sadasivan, Clinical Professor and Head of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, Dr. R. Bhanu Vikraman Pillai, Pediatric Gastroenterologist, Dr. Ravi Sankaran, Clinical Professor & Head of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, Dr. Dinesh Balakrishnan from the Centre for Organ Transplant, LiFOK Chairman Matthew Philip, State General Secretary Manoj Kumar, Treasurer Babu Kuruvila, and Security Officer Fr Lijo Raju Tamarakudi. Dr. Sudeendran was honored for his service as a LiFOK trustee with the award named after the former LiFOK head, the late E.S. Narayanan.

Training sessions led by Dr. Amrita Vishwanath and Dr. Nandana Nair from the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Department were conducted, providing patients with an opportunity to interact with doctors and receive their privilege cards. Additionally, free Fibroscan services were provided to the participants as part of Amrita Sparsham. Over 400 liver transplant recipients and their families participated in the event.
