
Amrita Hospital, Kochi, in association with the Rotary Club, hosted a grand recognition ceremony to honour the torchbearers of the Gift of Life (GOL) project — a humanitarian initiative providing free pediatric cardiac surgeries to children in need.
The event celebrated 1,000 successful pediatric cardiac surgeries performed at Amrita Hospital under the GOL programme. Coordinators, leaders, and volunteers from across India and abroad were acknowledged for their selfless contributions in transforming the lives of children with congenital heart defects.
The ceremony featured addresses by Rtn Viju Abraham, President, Rotary Club Cochin Knights; Dr. GN Ramesh, Rotary District Governor; Dr. Prem Kumar Nair, Group Medical Director, Amrita Hospitals; Dr. Krishna Kumar, Head, Pediatric Cardiology Department, Amrita Hospital, Kochi; and Dr. Brijesh, Clinical Professor, Pediatric Cardiology, Amrita Hospital, Kochi. Each speaker highlighted the programme’s impact and its far-reaching global presence.
In addition, the event showcased inspiring videos of GOL initiatives in Sri Lanka, South Korea, and various parts of India, illustrating the programme’s transformative effect on the lives of children worldwide. The recognition ceremony underlined Amrita Hospital’s continued commitment to combining medical excellence with humanitarian service, making quality healthcare accessible to children in need.
