To make blood donation more accessible, Amrita Hospital Kochi launched the Blood Mobile Bus - THE RED DROP CARAVAN on Blood Donation Day. This state-of-the-art mobile unit, generously donated by Lions Club International Foundation and Lions International District 318C, is equipped to collect blood from five donors simultaneously and will also serve as a medical unit during emergencies.

The flag-off ceremony of the Blood Mobile Bus began with a vehicle puja led by Swami Poornamritananda Puri at the Edappally Brahmasthanam Temple, followed by the official flag-off at Amrita Hospital, Kochi by Mr. Sibi Tom, Assistant Police Commissioner, Kochi. The Blood Donation Day celebration honoured around 140 voluntary organizations and blood donors for their dedicated service to the community. These organizations and individuals have contributed selflessly to the noble act of blood donation despite busy schedules, helping save countless lives.

The Blood Donation Day celebration was inaugurated by Dr. Prem Nair, Group Medical Director, Amrita Hospitals. Dr. Anand Kumar, Head of the Neurology Department at Amrita Hospital Kochi, delivered the Blood Donation Day message.

The event was attended by dignitaries, including Lions District Governor Rajan Namboothiri, Second Vice District Governor Jayesh, and several past District Governors such as Roy Varghese, Sivanandan, Rajesh Kalarikkal, Sabu Karikassery, along with Cabinet Treasurer Peter Sebastian, Project Director Sreekumar, and George Saju. Other notable attendees included Ernakulam Enforcement RTO Manoj K., Dr. K. V. Beena, Additional Medical Superintendent, Dr. Ajoy Menon, Dr. Prathapan Nair, Dr. Rehna, Dr. Unnikrishnan Menon, Dr. Veena Shenoy, and HDFC Bank State Head Lakshminarayan Yarajonna.
