
Department of Geriatric Medicine at Amrita Hospital organized a Senior Citizens’ Gathering on the occasion of World Alzheimer’s Day and the International Day of Older Persons. The event aimed to raise awareness about healthy aging, provide educational insights, and create a joyful platform for the elderly.
The program was inaugurated by Dr. Rehna C Mukund, Administrator, Amrita Hospital, who emphasized the importance of compassion, respect, and care for senior citizens in all aspects of life. Dr. Priya Vijayakumar, Clinical Professor of Geriatrics, welcomed the participants and highlighted the hospital’s commitment to elderly care.
The gathering featured a series of scientific sessions covering essential topics for senior health:

Adult Vaccinations – Dr. Parmes. A.R.
Importance of Physiotherapy – Nikhil Menon
Additionally, practical classes were conducted on mental health, physiotherapy, immunizations, and lifestyle strategies for maintaining wellness in older age.

Branded as “Vayojana Sangamam”, the gathering reinforced the hospital’s mission to provide comprehensive care and social support for the elderly, reminding society of the dignity and respect that senior citizens deserve.
