With the aim of providing free surgical treatment for epilepsy patients, NewSpace India Limited (NSIL) under the Department of Space, in collaboration with Amrita Hospital, Kochi, has launched another major social welfare initiative. To support this project, the Department of Space has sanctioned a grant of approximately one crore rupees to Amrita Hospital, enabling financially underprivileged epilepsy patients to undergo treatment and surgery free of cost.
So far, the Amrita Advanced Centre for Epilepsy, in association with the Amrita Telemedicine Department, has successfully performed epilepsy surgeries for nearly 1,300 patients.
The initiative was inaugurated on the auspicious occasion of Mata Amritanandamayi Devi’s 72nd birthday, said Dr. Sibi Gopinath, Head of the Advanced Centre for Epilepsy at Amrita Hospital, Kochi.
