Amrita Hospital, Kochi, and the K. Chittilappilly Foundation have joined hands to launch ‘Hridaya Chittamritham’, an initiative to provide free heart surgeries for children below the age of 18.
As part of efforts to strengthen social interventions in healthcare, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the initiative was exchanged between Amrita Hospital and the K. Chittilappilly Foundation at a ceremony held at Chittilappilly Square, Kakkanad.
Kochouseph Chittilappilly, Chairman, K. Chittilappilly Foundation, and Dr. P. Prathapan Nair, Chief Medical Administrator, Amrita Hospital, exchanged the MoU on behalf of the two organisations.
Vinod S. M., Director – Social Initiatives, K. Chittilappilly Foundation, welcomed the gathering. Dr. Brijesh P. K., Professor and Head, Department of Paediatric Cardiac Surgery, Amrita Hospital, outlined the objectives of the Hridaya Chittamritham initiative and explained how the programme would be implemented.
Dr. R. Krishna Kumar, Professor and Head, Department of Paediatric Cardiology; Dr. Balu Vaidyanathan; Dr. George Sleeba, Executive Director, K. Chittilappilly Foundation; and B. Jayaraj, Joint Executive Director, K. Chittilappilly Foundation, were among those who attended the ceremony. Dr. Vishnu K. Santhosh, Senior Executive Officer, Amrita Hospital, delivered the vote of thanks.
Speaking on the occasion, Kochouseph Chittilappilly said he was happy that the K. Chittilappilly Foundation could partner with Amrita Hospital in such a major initiative and expressed hope that the programme would benefit many children in need.
The K. Chittilappilly Foundation will provide financial assistance of ₹10 crore under the Hridaya Chittamritham initiative to support heart surgeries for children below the age of 18.
