Dr. Sidharth Viswanathan completed his MBBS form Amrita School of Medicine, Kochi in 2008 and MS in General Surgery from Calicut Medical College in 2011. He then did MCh in Vascular Surgery from Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology (SCTIMST), Trivandrum in 2014, to be the first MCh qualified vascular surgeon of Kerala.
Dr. Sidharth has undergone further training in vascular and endovascular surgery in the United Kingdom, in a busy vascular unit at Doncaster and Bassetlaw hospitals NHS foundations trust, Doncaster, UK from June 2015 to October 2016, under the sponsorship of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (International Medical Graduate Sponsorship Scheme).
- Dr. Sidharth has worked for a brief period as Adhoc consultant (Asst professor) at Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology (SCTIMST), Trivandrum after qualification.
After returning from the UK, Dr. Sidharth has worked as consultant vascular and endovascular surgeon at MES Medical College, Perinthalmanna and ASTER MIMS Hospital, Kozhikode prior to joining as faculty at Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences. - Dr. Sidharth has been trained in dealing with various types of vascular pathologies. His areas of interest being abdominal aortic aneurysm management (open repair and EVAR), revascularisation procedures for limb salvage inlcuding bypass surgery, peripheral angioplasty(particularly of infra-popliteal segment) and hybrid techniques, carotid endarterectomy for stroke prevention, endovenous and open varicose veins treatment & AV access surgeries for renal patients for hemodialysis. He is a member of the Association of Surgeons of India (ASI) since 2010 and the Vascular Society of India (VSI) since 2012.
- Dr. Sidharth has 10 publications in his name in national and international journals. He has also been involved in research and development of indigenous vascular prosthetic grafts at the Biomedical Wing of SCTIMST.
