Dr. Navaneetha Sasikumar is a highly skilled Pediatric Cardiologist specializing in keyhole operations / cardiac interventions for congenital heart defects and valvular diseases in patients ranging from newborns to adults. With 15 years of experience, Dr. Sasikumar has honed her expertise in cardiac catheterization at top institutions, including Toronto's Hospital for Sick Children and several renowned Indian centers. She established a Pediatric Cardiac Interventional Program at a public sector hospital in India from 2017-2020, overcoming resource limitations through strategic use of existing adult cardiac services. Dr. Sasikumar has independently conducted numerous cardiac interventions and initiated the Melody Transcatheter Pulmonary Valve Implantation program at Amrita, receiving solo certification from Medtronic in 2022. In 2024, she launched the MyVal Transcatheter Heart Valve program for native right ventricular outflow tracts.
In 2021, she founded the ACHD Clinic at Amrita Institute, creating a vital database to address the needs of adults with congenital heart diseases. She excels in managing Adult Congenital Heart Diseases (ACHD), having trained at the Toronto Congenital Cardiac Centre for Adults. Dr. Sasikumar leads the ACHD Clinic at Amrita Institute, Kochi, the first of its kind in India, providing comprehensive care for adults with congenital heart conditions. She organized the 2023 Amrita ACHD Symposium, drawing significant international participation. Dr. Sasikumar has independently conducted numerous cardiac interventions and initiated the Melody Transcatheter Pulmonary Valve Implantation program at Amrita, receiving solo certification from Medtronic in 2022. Dr. Sasikumar also developed the "Smiling Heart App" to aid in the early detection of critical congenital heart disease. She contributes to the Kerala State's "Hridyam" program and advises the Meghalaya State government on pediatric cardiology, aiming to reduce infant mortality and enhance child health in underserved areas.
