The Department of Cardiology at Amrita Hospital in Kochi has earned its place as a leading cardiac centre in the state and beyond. Staffed by a dynamic team of 10 cardiologists, 15 resident cardiologists, and a dedicated paramedical staff, this department is a testament to its unwavering commitment to heart health. The department has notched up several milestones on its belt. Performing over 125,000 cardiac procedures, including the first transaortic valve replacement via a minimally invasive approach, it has pioneered many medical innovations. They were forerunners in introducing the heart team concept, a cooperative and integrative approach to patient care. They marked a significant milestone by performing the state’s first percutaneous ventricular septal rupture procedure.
