In accordance with International Yoga Day 2026 Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham & Amrita Hospital, Faridabad, in collaboration with the Haryana State Commission for Women, conducted a special program prior to International Yoga Day under the title “Yoga for Women’s Health”, that aimed to emphasize the need for preventive health care and wellness among women.
The program was conducted at Arati Court of Amrita Hospital, and around 300 people attended the program, who included women from the community, health practitioners, students, hospital staff members, and wellness enthusiasts. This program was designed in such a way that would help in spreading awareness regarding yoga practice and how it can play an important part in improving health, mind, and general well-being of the individual.
There were several sessions of yoga and breathing exercises conducted by expert practitioners at the event, which helped participants to realize the benefits of yoga.
Speaking at the program, Swami Nijamritananda Puri, Administrative Director of Amrita Hospital, Faridabad, focused on the importance of women’s health in forming healthy societies. As was stated, women frequently put other people first when attending to their own needs; and here yoga proved to be one of the easiest and most efficient ways to achieve health not only physically but emotionally and mentally as well.
Representatives of the Haryana State Commission for Women talked about the necessity of providing women with the opportunity to control their own health by actively participating in community programs aimed at their well-being. It is worth noting that preventive healthcare measures like yoga can help in solving the problem of growing morbidity related to lifestyle among women, especially obesity, diabetes, hypertension, stress, and hormonal diseases.
Participants of the event were awarded commemorative T-shirts and refreshments after the program. The initiative could serve as an effective preparatory activity to the approaching International Yoga Day 2026 organized by Amrita.
