Overview
A Radiation Oncologist with 8 years of experience in this technology-driven and patient-focused field, he specializes in using advanced forms of radiation to treat cancers of the brain, head and neck, breast, gastrointestinal, and gynaecological regions. He believes that cancer is best treated in a multidisciplinary setting and considers it critical to collaborate closely with medical oncology and surgical colleagues. His patients benefit from the combined knowledge of multiple specialists dedicated to curing cancer and helping patients resume their lives. He has received advanced training in delivering high-precision, personalized radiation therapy designed to eliminate cancer while minimizing side effects.
He completed his Junior Residency in Radiation Oncology at Vydehi Institute of Medical Sciences and was awarded his MD by Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore, in 2017. During this period, he developed expertise in stereotactic radiotherapy, radiosurgery, and advanced image-guided radiotherapy. He was instrumental in commissioning MRI-guided brachytherapy for cervical cancer at the institute, which led to the publication of India’s second-largest dataset on the subject. During this time, the team performed the world’s first Robotic Liver HDR Brachytherapy and also published Indian data on the role of HPV and telomerase in cervical and head and neck cancers respectively. For his research contributions, he was awarded the MC Pant Gold Medal by the Association of Radiation Oncologists of India for the best research in 2016.
In 2017, he received a Technology Transfer Grant from the European Society of Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology to gain advanced training in CyberKnife-based SRS and SBRT, proton therapy, and hyperthermia at ERASMUS.
He completed his Senior Residency at prestigious institutes such as SGPGI Lucknow and ILBS Delhi and served his longest tenure at AIIMS New Delhi. At ILBS Delhi, he commissioned the stereotactic program in ablative radiotherapy, which resulted in one of the largest publications from India on Liver SBRT in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma. Through this work, he gained extensive experience in managing complex stereotactic treatments in radiation oncology.
Based on the research conducted at ILBS, he received the Best Young Radiation Oncologist Award and the GC Pant Gold Medal at AROICON Ahmedabad in 2019.
During his Senior Residency at AIIMS New Delhi, he was exposed to a wide variety of cases and complex clinical scenarios. He also participated in the Low Dose Radiation for COVID-19 clinical trial. He has hands-on experience in brachytherapy for breast, sarcoma, cervix, prostate, lung, and liver cancers, along with IGRT, SRS, and SBRT treatments. Additionally, he is part of the Breast Brachytherapy Guidelines developed by the Indian Brachytherapy Society.
He is currently a member of the AMMA family at Amrita Faridabad, serving as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Radiation Oncology, where he is committed to helping cancer patients with the highest standards of care and expertise.
