Dr. Hyacinth Peninnah Paljor

Dr. Hyacinth Penninah Paljor completed Doctor of Medicine (MD) from Bangalore Medical College, Bangalore University, Karnataka (1987). She completed her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from Mysore Medical College, Mysore University, Karnataka in 1983 and started her career as an intern at Holy Family Hospital, New Delhi, going on to serve as Junior Resident at the hospital. She then went on to work as Resident - Department of Medicine, Bangalore Medical College, Karnataka, India (October 1983 – September 1986).

Earlier in her career, she was posted as Medical Officer, GB Pant Cantonment General Hospital, Srinagar (Jan 1988 - July 1988), Medical Officer, Burnhall School Health Room, Srinagar Kashmir. (August 1988 - July 1989), Medical Officer, GB Pant Cantonment General Hospital, Srinagar. (July 1989 - March 1991). She also worked as Medical Specialist, Seena Hospital, Zarand Kerman, Iran (August 1991- December 1994).

Dr. Paljor came back to India and joined St Stephen’s Hospital, Tis Hazari, Delhi as Consultant Medicine in 1995 and took over as Senior Consultant and Head of Medicine in 2002 (till March 2017). She was actively involved in patient care in out-patients, in-patients and critical care areas. 

Dr. Paljor joined Sarvodaya Hospital and Research Centre, Faridabad as Senior Consultant and Head of Medicine and worked there for three and a half years. She was subsequently appointed as Director -  Academics and Head of Wellness Centre (from April 2017 to August 2022). She was actively involved in patient care, in out-patient, in- patient and critical care areas at the hospital. Dr. Paljor is a National Board of Examinations recognized teacher, thesis guide, examiner and appraiser. She was involved in the planning and execution of all academic programmes in Sarvodaya hospital and training of Post graduate students in General Medicine. Dr. Paljor was also the Chairperson of the Scientific and Research Committee of the Institution, Drugs and Therapeutic Committee and Mortality and Morbidity Meetings. She was a member of the Ethical Committee, Kidney transplant Committee and POSH Committee in the institution. 

Her work profile also involved training of DNB students in General Medicine and Family Medicine. The track record of students trained under Dr. Paljor was excellent and they are well placed in life. 

• National Board of Examinations recognized teacher, thesis guide, examiner and appraiser. 
• Recipient of the DR. LUCY OOMEN MEMORIAL AWARD for excellence in patient care in 2009. This was awarded by St Stephens Hospital, Delhi.
• Fellowship of Diabetes India awarded at 7th World Congress of Diabetes India on 23rd Feb 2017 at New Delhi.
• Fellowship of the Research Society for Study of Diabetes in India 2018.
