Dr Ahamed currently is the co-investigator of studies which relate to the application of artificial intelligence and machine learning as it applies to cardiac imaging in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.
Dr Ahamed is also the program lead for the Amrita Cardiovascular Genomics program. The Amrita Cardiovascular Genetics Services is the largest, comprehensive cardiovascular genomics service in India and has been founded on a decade of rich experience in managing inherited cardiovascular disease. Under his leadership, Over the last decade, the Amrita Cardiovascular Genetics Services has excelled at providing state of the art genetic testing, comprehensive clinical evaluation, treatment, risk assessment and risk reduction for a whole range of genetic cardiovascular disorders which include cardiomyopathies, channelopathies, aortopathies, premature ASCVD and congenital heart disease. Dr Ahamed has published widely in inherited cardiovascular disease and is also a Council Member of Cardiovascular Genomics (European Society of Cardiology).
Dr Ahamed is also the co-lead for the Amrita Cardio-Oncology program, and he currently serves as the vice president of the Asian Cardio-Oncology Society. The Amrita Cardio-Oncology Clinic at the Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences, Kochi, is one of the first initiatives of its kind in India, aiming to deliver contemporary evaluation and treatment strategies to promote cardiovascular health in cancer patients. Dr Ahamed has wide experience in managing cardiac amyloidosis, chemotherapy related cardiac toxicity and promoting cardiovascular health in cancer survivors.
