World Glaucoma Week 2018

Beat Invisible Glaucoma

Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences is celebrating World Glaucoma Week (March 11 – 17, 2018) with programs throughout the week under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Meenakshi Dhar, Head of Glaucoma Services. They are:

1. GLAUCOMA WALKATHON

As a jumpstart to the weeklong awareness programmes during the World Glaucoma Week, we have organized:

Glaucoma Walkathon” on March 11, 2018 [Sunday] 4:30 pm at Fort Kochi [near Parade ground, Opposite Cochin Club], to be flagged off at 4.30 pm

This is organized by Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences, Cochin Ophthalmic Club [which includes all ophthalmologists in Cochin], KSOS under the aegis of Glaucoma Society of India and KSOS, with enthusiastic support from IMA {Cochin branch}, Inner Wheel Club of Cochin, Rotary Club of Cochin and Women Explorers [WE] along with doctors, students and staff of Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences. Many celebrities are expected. Ms. Shiny Mathew, Councillor, Fort Kochi has consented to be the Chief Guest.

Let us walk and let people learn about the silent killer, GLAUCOMA

3. FREE GLAUCOMA SCREENING 2 - 3 PM DAILY from 12th - 16th March at the Ophthalmology department Tower 1 Ground floor.
4. Free IOP checkup through the day near Atrium in A’ Block Ground Floor from 12th - 17th March
5. FREE GLAUCOMA SCREENING at Amrita Health Centre, Njyaliparambu Junction , Fort Kochi on 15th March Thursday 9-12 am
6. Glaucoma Poster Competition

Epileptology Fellowship at Amrita Advanced Centre for Epilepsy

One of the most advanced comprehensive epilepsy centres in India is inviting applications for Epilepsy Fellowships. Two seats are available every year. Duration of the fellowship is one year. The fellowship is designed provide expertise and proficiency in the following areas:

  • Comprehensive understanding: Refractory epilepsy, epilepsy syndromes, women with epilepsy, pediatric epilepsy
  • Advanced electrophysiology of epilepsy including electrical source localization
  • Presurgical evaluation of epilepsy, including:
    1. VEEG telemetry,
    2. Advanced interictal EEG/ictal EEG/semiology characterization,
    3. Ictal SPECT,
    4. Interictal PET,
    5. 3T and functional MRI
  • Advanced techniques in epilepsy surgery:
    1. Intracranial EEG,
    2. detailed SEEG methodology,
    3. functional brain mapping (fMRI, intraoperative & extraoperative electrocortical stimulation, Wada),
    4. Advanced Intracranial EEG analysis (HFO mapping, CCEP, ictal onset stimulation mapping,
    5. intraoperative electrocorticography,
    6. advanced image coregistry techniques as applied to epilepsy surgery,
    7. Neuromodulation therapy including DBS.
  • Comprehensive clinical experience in long-term medical management of epilepsy including:
    1. ketogenic diet
    2. evidence-based drug management.
  • Research thesis in clinical epileptology
