Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences has been a centre of excellence in the field cardiovascular care for more than one and half decades. With the expertise of specialist and state of art imaging techniques the heart team could manage more than 3000 aortic procedures during this period.
Presently in India there is no comprehensive dedicated program for Marfan syndrome. Death due to Marfan syndrome often results from the involvement of aorta and heart valves. Disease of Aorta; both acquired and genetic origin, needs evaluation and treatment by extremely skilled medical professional from different medical specialties in a centre with state-of-the-art infrastructure.
Centre for Aortic Diseases and Marfan Syndrome at Amrita would become a referral centre for comprehensive treatment of diseases involving aorta which include endovascular treatment, hybrid procedures, percutaneous valve replacement and the entire spectrum of surgical interventions.
The adult cardiology faculties with expertise in advanced cardiac imaging, catheterization and endovascular therapy support the program with diagnosis, hemodynamic decision making, endovascular therapies and trans aortic valve replacement (TAVI).
